Shigotonin

In a way, I like work. It keeps my hands busy and my mind off things.

I've been working for about a month now. Boss has been nice so far... actually he's always nice. It was 2 years ago when I first worked with him, and now 2 years later I'm back in his lab helping out again as an employed staff. Boss didn't change much, although the lab itself has changed quite a bit. But like every other job, adaptation is key.

When I first worked with my current Boss, I was a greenhorn having zilch lab experience. So it was pretty obvious that I didn't manage to get something concrete after one year of lab attachment. But now with the training that I had gotten from my previous lab (which I am really grateful for), I'm more confident in what I do and am pretty determined to churn something out for Boss, however insignificant it is.

I'm quite glad that I don't have to handle RNA again, although I'm pretty experienced in that area now (lolol). Instead, I'm now carrying out standard protocols, general techniques that I hadn't much chance to do when I was a student (I picked a pretty specialized area for my FYP, I guess). And I finally get to process animal samples myself next week, so I'm really look forward to it (although I'm not so hot about seeing a mouse get sacrificed in front of me T_T).

I guess that once I started work my life has become more routine... I wake up early, and I sleep early (read: before midnight). I coordinate my work schedule to the official working hours in school because I decided to save a little and take the staff bus, which meant that I'll be in school really early in the morning. When I get back home I'm usually in a zombified mode already... but I do still try to find time to do the things I like.

Currently my whole week's packed with activities (I'm literally busy 7 days a week), be it work or hobbies or Japanese class (oh yeah I'm picking up Japanese from scratch again...) I might need a couple of months more to iron my schedule out and get use to this lifestyle, but hell yeah, being busy is better than rotting and staring into space. =.=

I haven't been updating in recent weeks, but here's a little update on my gadget list. ;) I've got myself a Nintendo DS after all... even before I started work because I wanted to beat the GST hike. XD I had fun with it, but I'm spending less and less time on games because of work. T_T

Both of my laptops decided to go on strike about a month ago, so for a while I was isolated from civilization. While I managed to save Kaoru (the new one which was still under warranty), Miyabi the old lappie died after various attempts to save it. That included me throwing money away to get the problem diagnosed and the hard disk changed... but it still died wtf. The standard of Fujitsu's service is probably at an all time low or something? But in any case I swear that I'm not going to get a Fujitsu again. So just last week I blew close to 2K for a cool-looking and portable Acer for work. The new kid's called Ruiza, and just like the real guy, it's small but packs a punch. ^^ (Yeah I name all my lappies after kick-ass Jrock guitarists woo hoo!)

And yeah, I'm currently broke. Don't ask me out for dinner unless you're the one paying. XD
